Measurement and Evaluation of Metal-to-Metal Seals Sealability by Ultrasonic Phased Array

The magnitude and distribution of contact stress on the metal-to-metal seal interface premium connection has been confirmed as a direct factor sealing integrity. In this study, method evaluating sealability by measuring seals with ultrasonic phased array is investigated. A loading system measurement cone-cone samples were created. recommended detection focusing -deflection, time compensation suggested to extract reflected wave peak surface. experiments show that declines rise axial load, big end showing most noticeable reduction. shift in also reflects movement interface. calculated according reflection coefficient compared simulation results. trend consistent. index error less than 15%, decreased decrease surface angle. Then, nephogram formed visualize stress, which takes great significance engineering.
